“Playful, straightforward, wistful and long-lasting. Four words paired with a hell of a lot of talent and you get...Julie Maria".
These were the words when Julie Maria was nominated for the P3 award in 2010 as the only woman in the field of nominees.
Julie Maria started her musical career as a singer in DR's Girls' Choir and was subsequently educated at the Rhythmic Conservatory in Copenhagen.
"Kathrine Windfeld is a rising star on the European jazz scene, not least for her bold writing for her adventurous big band" (Jazzwise Magazine (UK)).
The Guardian (UK) describes Kathrine Windfeld's compositions as a rare combination of power and elegance: a colorful mix of sophisticated harmonic passages, physical grooves and poetic ballads in explosive arrangements.
The Kathrine Windfeld Big Band has toured in i.a. England, Germany and Sweden and counts 15 of the strongest younger jazz profiles in Scandinavia.
The Danish Youth Ensemble (DUEN) visits Agerumsladen once again – this time with delicious English string music.
Conductor Morten Ryelund will, as always, present the music and guide the audience through the program. DUEN's core consists of up to 25 of the country's best young string players aged 17-27.
The musicians qualify for a place in the ensemble at an entrance exam. Over time, several hundred musicians have been through the ensemble, and many play today as professional musicians.
