Culture shock and mental health with Nanna Hauch from Expat Hero - March 23rd

 

On March 23rd at 17.00-20.00 (5-8pm) you can in a mix of speech and workshop gain knowledge and insights on culture shock and the psychological dynamics related to intercultural living.

Nanna gives a light overview of theory of culture shock and how it affects our psychology. The dynamics of transitioning into a new culture can challenge us to a degree where it feels overwhelming.

Participation is free, but you need to sign up.

Join us for another fantastic evening of English Stand Up comedy at Spinderihallerne.
 
We are joined by three professional comedians who will guarantee a hilarious night of quality stand up!
 
This time featuring Abby Wambaugh, Jefferson Bond and Tushar Kumar.

Election for the INTEGRATION COUNCIL – March 4th

 
Run for election, vote and be part of future decisions!
 
This is your chance as an international living in Vejle, to influence the future in Vejle - via direct access to the City Council!
 
You can run and/or vote for the Integration Council if you live in Vejle Municipality, are aged 18 (or will be 18 on March 4th), were born or have parents who were born abroad.

If you would like to run as a candidate, you can inform us on the voting day - no former work reqired (bring your yellow health card).
 
The new council starts on 1 April 2023 and meet six times a year. Work in the Integration Council is voluntary.  
 
The Integration Council in Vejle Municipality is set up by the City Council and advises the municipality on the overall integration efforts and works for ethnic equality and equality.
 
The Integration Council is an active player in getting integration on the agenda and create interaction between citizens, the municipality and city council.
 
The tasks of the Integration Council are:
• To build bridges between cultures
• To create development and dialogue
• To develop common understanding
• To break down barriers
 
The Integration Council can, for example:
• Speak out on topics of interest to citizens with a different ethnic background than Danish.
• Make proposals for municipal efforts and focus areas.
• Make proposals for the work with the municipality's integration policy.
• Look at schools' teaching, bilinguals' access to the labor market or the situation of the elderly.
• Strengthen cooperation between the municipality and cultural associations.
• Advise the municipality on the reception of newly arrived foreigners and refugees.

Theater play for children – March 4th

 
Join this theater play, where we create our own fantastic stories.
 
Narrator Marianne from the School of Music and Culture will guide the play and the stories and ensure that everyone has a fun and good experience.
 
It will be a morning filled with imagination, laughter and movement. The game lasts approx. 30 minutes and does not require you to have tried theater before.
 
For children from 3-8 years. Parents are welcome to stay and watch.

Come join Vocal Improv Choir at Spinderihallerne!  

“A joyous collaboration and celebration of human voices and spontaneous composition.”  

An Improv Choir is a great way to have fun, sing, relax, feel connected, release happy endorphins, build community; even among people who speak different languages. Simply sing what is sung to you. It’s that easy.  

Vejle Improv Choir is for singers and non singers. All levels of singers are welcome; complete beginners to the very experienced.

The choir meet every other Tuesday from 18.00 to 19.00 (6-7pm) - just show up (no need to sign up).

The Danish Tax System Online Q&A will be held live on March 16 and March 23 where you'll be able to ask the Danish Tax Agency your tax questions.

How to buy a home in Denmark - March 20th

 

Sydbank and Skov Advokater invites you to an introduction on buying real estate in Denmark on March 20th at 17.00 (4pm).

The event will be about subjects such as;

  • where to begin
  • the showing of the house with the agent
  • negotiations
  • conditions for buying real estate in Denmark
  • options of financing
  • requirements to financing

The event is free of charge, but you must sign up no later than March 13th since there is a limited number of seating.

Free Rejsekort (travel card) for newcomers

 

In 2023, Vejle Municipality, together with Sydtrafik, offers a free travel card to new residents.

If you just moved to Vejle, you can get a Rejsekort (travel card), and travel for free with public transportation for two months. This gives you plenty of opportunity to see your new municipality and the experiences and attractions it offers.

NOTE that you have to activate the card within two months after you moved to Vejle.

Come join our communal dining “Fællesspisning” every Tuesday at Spinderihallernes Café.

 
 
Eating together is a great way to meet new people. Every week, people of all ages meet over a nice meal at Spinderihallernes Café.
 
If you are looking for great company, “hygge” and the opportunity to meet new people, then “Fællesspisning” is the place to go.
 
We serve the food from 18.00/6pm - beer, wine and soft drinks are sold separately. The café closes at 21.00/9pm.
 
You can book your ticket via this websitw below - the price is 85 kr. for adults and 55 kr. for children (up to 12 years) per portion, incl. a cup of coffee and something sweet.  
 
In March you can join on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th.
