April is here in a few days - and starting out with Easter Vacation for many Danes. However still some fun going on during the first week of April and a few events this week to end off March! 
 
Remember Easter means many things close down, including some supermarkets from the 6th - 10th (both included). NOTE Saturday the 8th is a regular day. Check the website of the place you would like to go :).

The Cultural meeting between different health understandings! April 13th

 

Moving to another country than your own is vulnerable, lots of new ways, traditions and culture. When it comes to healthcare we know that the "Danish way" differs quite a bit from other countries.

On April 13th at 17.00-20-00 (5-8pm) Nadia El-Gendi from “På Tværs” will help us learn how to understand doctors in Denmark, whilst taking us on a journey in different cultural worldviews.

What is illness? What is considered treatment? How is the connection between mind and body perceived?

The workshop is free of charge - but you have to sign up.

Vejle Municipality to become member of IDCN

 
Vejle Municipality is joining the ICDN Jutland-Funen! 
 
This means that if you are an acompamying partner living in Vejle Municipality and your partner does not work in one of the other corporate member companies, you now have the chance to join IDCN, based on you being a Vejle resident. 
 
We are setting it up these days, so let Vejle Newcomer Service know (at bosaetningsguide@vejle.dk) if you fall into the above mentioned target group and would like to join! 
 
NOTE there will be an IDCN event already later in April.

Brainstorm on international offers in Vejle - March 30th
 
Calling internationals in Vejle! 
 
On Thursday we are having a follow up of the brainstorm we had in February.
 
The brainstorm was about offers in Vejle - to talk about what can be offered from Newcomer Service and which ideas could it be possible for the community to "run with" yourselves.
 
We will meet again and talk about the input from the February - but feel free to join even if you didn't participate - your input is valued! 
 
We'll meet at Spinderihallerne, in Magasinet. Remember to sign up!

Pub Quiz at the Cat & Barrel - April 6th

 
Quiz Master Martha is back with her brilliant pub quiz with questions about geography, music, famous people, sports and general knowledge.

Come alone or in teams of a maximum of six people. Questions are asked primarily in English but can be repeated in Danish if necessary. In addition to the honor of winning and bragging rights, there will be a Mystery prize goodiebag for the winning team.

Concerts at Engelsholm in April

 

Naja Rose: Wednesday 19 April at 19.30 in Agerumsladen.

Naja Rosa's soulful voice takes the listener on a hypnotic journey through alluring twilight pop with a twist of the 60s west coast sound and cinematic landscapes. Now she travels around the country with her eminent band (Una Skott, Sofia Hedia, Frank Hasselstrøm and Anders Holm), and takes the audience on a magical journey.

Naja Rosa Koppel has had music in her blood ever since she was born as the daughter of Annisette and Thomas Koppel and their legendary orchestra Savage Rose, and for the last several years she has also toured as a permanent member of the orchestra.

But Naja Rosa is also an excellent singer and songwriter in her own name and has so far released several award-winning albums.

Vestbo Trio: Wednesday 26 April at 19.30 in Riddersalen.

Vestbo Trio's guitar-based instrumental music lives at the crossroads between blues, jazz and folk. Vestbo Trio has several successful releases behind them, with top quality sound and beautiful artwork. The trio's previous album "Gentlemen..." which was recorded in Mark Knopfler's legendary "British Grove Studios" went all the way to the top as No. 1 on the Danish Vinyl Top 40.

Upcomers Spring Market - April 29th + 30th

 
Are you into design, handicrafts, creativity and colorful workshops?
 
Then join Upcomer's design market in Spinderihallerne on 29 and 30 April 2023.
 
There will be more than 90 exhibitors, who will bring their most beautiful and inspiring works and goods. 
 
There will also be an area with workshops where you can try out your creative abilities. For example, you can paint on ceramics, work with leather or make paper flowers.

FabLab Spinderihallerne is a modern prototype workshop where you meet the latest digital production technologies and trained instructors who are ready to help you get started using the technologies to build (almost) anything.

Mother-tongue education - time to sign up your child

 
The purpose of participating in mother-tongue education is to maintain and develop the children’s familiarity with their mother-tongue and to learn more about their home country.
 
The children have the opportunity to understand their background and to master the language.  
 
For the school year 22/23 you have to sign up your child latest May 31.

Free Rejsekort (travel card) for newcomers
 

In 2023, Vejle Municipality, together with Sydtrafik, offers a free travel card to new residents.

If you just moved to Vejle, you can get a Rejsekort (travel card), and travel for free with public transportation for two months. This gives you plenty of opportunity to see your new municipality and the experiences and attractions it offers.

NOTE that you have to activate the card within two months after you moved to Vejle.

Come join our communal dining “Fællesspisning” every Tuesday at Spinderihallernes Café.

 
 
Eating together is a great way to meet new people. Every week, people of all ages meet over a nice meal at Spinderihallernes Café.
 
If you are looking for great company, “hygge” and the opportunity to meet new people, then “Fællesspisning” is the place to go.
 
We serve the food from 18.00/6pm - beer, wine and soft drinks are sold separately. The café closes at 21.00/9pm.
 
You can book your ticket via this websitw below - the price is 85 kr. for adults and 55 kr. for children (up to 12 years) per portion, incl. a cup of coffee and something sweet.  
 
In April you can join on the 11th, 18th and 25th.
