Spring Reception - May 23rd
|
On May 23rd you are invited to join this year’s International Spring Reception in Vejle.
This is your chance to hang out with your Vejle neighbours in an informal environment with a focus on community and communities – maybe you will discover a community you would like to join, or even be part of creating a new one based on one of your interests.
Spread the word, bring your neighbours, friends, partner, kids – everyone is welcome!
Free of charge (registration required) - kid-friendly - held in English.
We’ll meet at 17.00/5pm and spend some hours together over a shared meal.
Feel free to stay as long as it suits you and your family.

Test of S!RENEN and the warning sirens - May 3rd
|
The National Police and the National Emergency Management Agency test the warning channels every year on the first Wednesday in May at 12.00.
This year you will also receive a test warning via S!RENEN (THE SIREN) on your mobile phone.
When major accidents occur, the authorities warn the public about the danger. Once a year, the notification channels are tested. It takes place on the first Wednesday in May at noon/12.00.
The National Police and the National Emergency Management Agency are testing the warning sirens as usual. This year you will also receive a test warning via S!RENEN on your mobile phone. The test warning is emitted with sound.
You don't need to download an app or sign up. You just need a newer mobile phone with an updated operating system.

Pub Quiz at the Cat & Barrel - May 4th
|
Quiz Master Martha is back with her brilliant pub quiz with questions about geography, music, famous people, sports and general knowledge. This time Emil will be co-hosting.
Come alone or in teams of a maximum of six people. Questions are asked primarily in English but can be repeated in Danish if necessary.
In addition to the honor of winning and bragging rights, there will be a Mystery prize goodiebag for the winning team.
We´re looking forward to seeing you for an evening of fun and casual trivia.

Plant Exchange Market - May 4th
|
We celebrate the spring with a PLANT EXCHANGE MARKET at Spinderihallerne!
Join if you are into plants and have plants, pots, seeds, soil, decorations for plants or anything else relevant that you would like to exchange. There is no money involved - just trade!
The café is open, and it is possible to buy Thursday soup, drinks, coffee etc.
In addition to the plant exchange market, there will also be music, art performance and bonfire fun on the program.

Performance in Kunstbulancen - May 4th
|
Experience the theater performance 'Artbulance 5.0' from 16.30-18.00 (4.30-6.00pm).
The performance runs in loops every 15 minutes for a new audience each time.
No registration required – just show up!
The theater performance explore, in a funny and ironic way, the boundaries between artists and audience in the so-called 5.0 society.

Spotlight Festival - May 8th–12th

Bring your children to this year's Spotlight Festival where there is plenty for the them to experience when the festival takes place in Give, Børkop, Jelling, Egtved and Vejle.
There will be singing, performances and lots of other activities that they can take part in.
No registration is required, you can just drop by.

Vejle Street Art Festival - May 18th-20th
|
A somewhat boring and gray parking area in the center of Vejle will be transformed into a Street art mecca when 13 local and national artists decorate 10 gables based on the theme "We give more than we take".
All week you can stop by and follow the process and ask the artists questions. In addition to the artists' work there will be a sea of activities for children as well as adults – especially on Saturday the 20th of May from 11am.

Give outdoor pool - from May 20th
|
In 2023, Give Friluftsbad is open from May 20th – September 3rd.
The outdoor swimming pool is connected to Give Camping, but it is open to everyone.
It is a large and heated outdoor pool with several different swimming pools.
In the pool area, there are always lifeguards and room for lots of fun and play throughout the summer.

Summer Vacation Activities for your school children - sign up from May 31st
|
In collaboration with local organizers, Vejle Municipality offers holiday activities.
Via the below link you will find the offers - all targeted at children, young people and families. Note some are for free and some have a payment.
The organizers are associations and private cultural organizers who work daily with children and young people as well as cultural and nature institutions.
NOTE: signing up starts May 31st at noon - be ready, tickets are taken fast.

Need a cultural experience? Vejle Musikteater will provide you with a number of English performances Vejle Musikteater offers a multitude of theater experiences and concerts.
Most of them take place in Danish, but there will also be performances in English. For example, when Vejle Musikteater invites you to international gospel concert on June 24th or the performance The King about Elvis' career on September 29th.

In May there are 3 national holidays on regular weekdays where your workplace most likely will be closed - and where you can experience that many supermarkets are too.
Check each supermarkets website - the bigger ones are usually closed. For the smaller ones it can vary within the chain if they are open or not.
Friday May 5th - Great Prayer Day
Thursday May 18th - Ascension Day - note that the Friday (the 19th) after is a regular day but many people take a day off.
Monday May 29th - Whit Monday

Mother-tongue education - time to sign up your child
|
The purpose of participating in mother-tongue education is to maintain and develop the children’s familiarity with their mother-tongue and to learn more about their home country.
The children have the opportunity to understand their background and to master the language.
For the school year 22/23 you have to sign up your child latest May 31.

Free Rejsekort (travel card) for newcomers
|
In 2023, Vejle Municipality, together with Sydtrafik, offers a free travel card to new residents.
If you just moved to Vejle, you can get a Rejsekort (travel card), and travel for free with public transportation for two months. This gives you plenty of opportunity to see your new municipality and the experiences and attractions it offers.
NOTE that you have to activate the card within two months after you moved to Vejle.

Come join our communal dining “Fællesspisning” every Tuesday at Spinderihallernes Café.
|
Eating together is a great way to meet new people. Every week, people of all ages meet over a nice meal at Spinderihallernes Café.
If you are looking for great company, “hygge” and the opportunity to meet new people, then “Fællesspisning” is the place to go.
We serve the food from 18.00/6pm - beer, wine and soft drinks are sold separately. The café closes at 21.00/9pm.
You can book your ticket via this websitw below - the price is 85 kr. for adults and 55 kr. for children (up to 12 years) per portion, incl. a cup of coffee and something sweet.
In May you can join on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th.
