Shared Reading in English - February 19th

Activate your senses in this shared reading experience in Spinderihallerne with Theis from the library as your guide.

A short story is read aloud. No preparation needed. You can simply listen and follow the text as it unfolds. The reading is paused at times to allow for reflection and conversation about what the text brings up.

There is no expectation to speak. Listening is enough. During the session, a small sensory element is included. It reflects something of the atmosphere or taste of the text, without shifting the focus away from the reading itself.

Free of charge, but you have to sign up!

Pokémon turns 30 – and we’re celebrating together!

February 23rd - 27th

For the 30th Pokémon takes over Spinderihallerne and the Library. There will be exhibitions, activities, and plenty of nerdy fun as we bring fans of all ages together for a shared anniversary celebration.

You can, among other things, test your knowledge in a Pokémon quiz, compete for fun prizes, and explore the classic manga that accompanied the iconic Game Boy games.

Whether you grew up with Pokémon or are just getting started, there’s something to look forward to.

E.g. check out the Pokémon Pixel Art Workshop and Pokémon Quiz. Find them and more at Spinderihallerne's event page.

Fastelavn - February 15th

Fastelavn is a traditional Nordic celebration, mainly in Denmark, Norway, and the Faroe Islands.
It usually takes place in February and is especially known as a children’s celebration.

In short:

  • Children dress up in costumes (a bit like Halloween)

  • They hit the barrel (“slå katten af tønden”) — today the barrel contains sweets, not a cat 🫣

  • A Cat King and Cat Queen are crowned

  • People enjoy fastelavns buns (sweet pastries)

Historically, Fastelavn originates from Catholic traditions and marked the beginning of Lent before Easter. Today, for most people, it is simply a cozy cultural celebration without religious significance.
